Coolbinia Amateur Football Club was formed at the end of 2002 as a result of a merger between two Clubs, Coolbinia Yokine Amateur Football Club and Osborne Districts Amateur Football Club. The two Clubs merged together initially under the name of Coolbinia West Perth Amateur Football Club, however the Club recently updated it's name to Coolbinia Amateur Football Club.
The original roots of the Club on the Osborne Districts side can be traced back to as early as the 1950's with the formation of Mt Hawthorn (aka the Cardies). That side of the Club itself has had a number of names and venues since then, but since 2002 has been located at Coolbinia Oval 2 on Yokine Reserve.
Coolbinia Yokine originally formed around the end of 1979 when the eldest age group at Coolbinia Yokine Junior Football Club (now Coolbinia Bombers) were looking for a senior Club to play at. The Senior Club got going a couple of years later, and the Saints enjoyed some success in 1981 and 1985, winning flags in those years. Coolbinia Yokine were then know as the Saints, and post merger the Club is now affectionately known as the 'Falcons'.
Over the past fifteen years Coolbinia has seen some remarkable highs and lows, as the Club's League side has ventured as high as B Grade in the WAAFL, but will see themselves play in C3 for the 2018 season. The League side have played in 3 Grand Finals in the merged Clubs short history, losing the 2005 & 2006 C Grade Grand Finals but historically winning the C2 Grand Final in 2011.
Since 2014, the Club has also fielded an Integrated team; a team for players with intellectual disabilities. The team has grown enormously in its time at the Club both on and off the field. Off the field players have become a key part of our social fabric and regularly are a part of the Clubs social calendar. On the field they have had tremendous success, winning Premierships in 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018! A lot of this can be attributed to the inspirational coach John Stone, who has guided and developed a group of young (and not so young) boys and girls!
The Coolbinia AFC had a season of unprecedented success into 2018 - firstly Integrated won a scarcely believable fourth consecutive Premiership Flag, before the League Team won the Clubs first League Premiership since 2011, Premiership, while the Reserves Team won the Clubs first ever Reserve Premiership.
The Club returned to the C2 Grade in 2019 and held its own, finishing 5th before departing in the Elimination Final. The Reserves continued the fine work of 2018 by going back to back against Quinn's District in 2019, to become the fist senior team at Coolbinia AFC to do so. The Integrated also continued on their merry way, securing yet another Flag in 2019!
Coolbinia AFC will field a League, Reserves, Thirds & Integrated Teams in 2020, with plans afoot to field a Colts and Women's Team as well.
